Kunti, a 23 year-old woman said she was beaten by her husband Shyam Behari, a carpenter by profession, who in a fit of anger attacked her with a butcher’s knife after learning of the news of a second daughter.”He wanted a boy, but I gave birth to a girl and that’s why he got agitated and chopped off my nose.” Read the report here

Slit Throat and Cigarette Burns For Having Daughters

A top ranking Indian government official  slit the throat and cut the hands of his wife for giving birth to two girls in East Godavari district.  Doctors found several knife cuts and cigarette burns on the body of Padmavathi, 39, who was married to K Satish Kumar, 47, deputy commercial tax officer (DCTO). Burnt To Death For Giving Birth To Girls

What initially was reported to be a case of self-immolation, later turned out to be cold-blooded murder. Sunita Rathod (30) from Salora village, Maharashtra, died of severe burns early on Thursday.  The incident was allegedly a fallout of frequent altercations between the couple over the issue of birth of girls—and no male child.  Report here.

Killed In Hospital After Giving Birth To A Girl

Sania,  in Gangoh village was hanged and murdered for giving birth to a girl.  After she gave birth to the baby she was  tortured mentally and physically.  Police have registered a case against 11 people including the husband and his parents for hanging her to death.  Report here.
