Woman Brutually Attacked with Knives By Husband and In-Laws

Sabia, an MBA student at Shadan College, married Saif Mohinudin, 27, who works in Hitech City, on May 25, 2012.  Sabia’s family gave 40 tolas of gold, 1 kg silver, Rs 1 lakh cash and other valuables in dowry to her husband and in-laws.

Soon after her husband and in-laws began demanding more wealth.  When their demands were not met her husband and in-laws attacked her with a knife wounding seriously.  She underwent a 4 hour surgery and remains in a critical condition. Her in-laws are absconding. Report here

Police Inspector arrested for Dowry Harassment

Indian Doctor arrested for Demanding Dowry

Is dowry really a product of illiteracy and poverty? Think again! Dr. Meshram, a radiologist was booked for demanding Rs 50 lakhs (U.S. $100,000) in dowry from the parents of the woman he was supposed to marry, and then cancelling his marriage after the bride’s side refused to pay the sum.  Meshram reportedly said that his degree was worth a crore rupees ($210,000.00) in dowry, and that he was preparing for higher studies abroad.
