Deepthi and Kumar on their wedding day

25 year old Pachala Deepthi had joined HCL technologies in Hyderabad in 2010 soon after completing her graduation in engineering.  There She fell in love with another software engineer Anantagiri Kiran Kumar.  In 2013 the couple decided they wanted to get married.  By then Kumar had moved to the U.S. to work with a multinational company.  While his parents accepted the alliance, Deepthi’s family did not and did not attend the wedding.  Later however, they told her that they had changed their mind, and met with the young couple and some of their friends.  Then they told their daughter that they wanted her to visit them.  There they strangled her to death, and hung up her body to make it look like a suicide.   The police have said this is premeditated murder, a case of “honor killing” and are search for the parents who are absconding.

  2. This is really surprising to hear .This clearly shows India is still not developed fully .The people who killed her should be given severe punishment and proper education should be given to people about cross culture marriage nothing is wrong in that even though people get married in the same cast they are not happy .Only media can educate people about this.
