Police on arrested two auto-rickshaw drivers on charges of kidnapping and raping a 14-year-old girl in Tadepalligudem.

Police arrested Gandrotu Lakshman of Jangareddigudem and his close friend Srinu of Tadepalligudem, both auto-rickshaw drivers. The girl was a resident of Jangareddigudem, studying in class 9 in a local school.

Deputy superintendent of police J. Venakta Rao said Lakshman kidnapped the girl and a classmate of hers while they were on their way back to home from school on September 18. The classmate returned home the next day and her mother lodged a complaint with the police.

A woman constable has lodged a complaint against her husband, also a constable, and in-laws, for dowry related assault and torture and being a threat to her life.

In her FIR, the woman said she was not allowed to talk to her parents and her husband beat her severely on many occasions. She has accused her husband of trying to injure her private parts with a knife in 2013.

She stated that her husband claimed to know knew senior UP police officers and would eliminate her family members, and could also implicate them in a false case.

28 year old Reena, a lecturer in a private college committed suicide at her residence in K.R. Puram. Reena a civil contractor had been married for four years and the couple was living in a rented house. According to police, Naveen had demanded cash from his parents-in-law to buy a site, and the latter had sought time to arrange it. Reena’s parents say the in-laws had also been harassing their daughter for dowry.

Abused for dowry, Dr Swetapadma Mishra, a gynecologist in a private hospital committed suicide by jumping off the roof of her 8 storied apartment building in the afternoon. Her parents have accused her in-laws of torturing her for dowry and abetting her suicide. Her father said, “Her husband, father-in-law and mother-in-law were all party to her torture. My daughter was a simpleton and bore the torture silently only for the sake of her son. I want him (son-in-law) to get appropriate punishment for his crime and spend the rest of his life in jail. His doctor’s licence should also be cancelled.”

A 16 year old mentally-disabled minor girl was abducted, confined to a room and gang raped by two auto drivers at LB Nagar. On August 26, the victim was thought missing as she did not return home and the family members lodged a complaint suspecting their neighbour Shiva, an auto driver. The girl was rescued at Bonguluru on Thursday by some locals who found her in a deserted place and took her to her family.

A 12-year-old tribal student was murdered after being allegedly gang-raped by unidentified men in a jungle between Dumradiha-Gunabasa villages in West Singhbhum district.

The girl went missing and her half burnt body was discovered in by villagers in the jungle. They had noticed smokes billowing from a spot and informed the police on seeing a body. The body was burnt below waist while her face was crushed with a stone and her eyes gouged out to conceal her identity. The girl’s school bag was found lying beside the body

The police said they would record the statements of the jeep driver and other people to ascertain the sequence of events. The police are also speaking with students traveling in the same jeep and are also ascertaining if there were any other children targeted by the accused.
